internet radio and freedom
Posted by: | CommentsIf ever there were a technology that supported the concept of “we the people” and freedom, it is internet radio, which is my attraction to it. As you know, my radio show – A New View of Life – is moving to VoiceAmerica Variety Channel internet radio on January 10, 2012 at 6 PM EST . With my announcement on Facebook, Twitter, my Facebook Fan Page and to other groups, I am being asked, “What is internet radio? How do I listen to internet radio?”
This is the beauty of the internet and the new devices – ipad and other tablet devices, smart phones as well as the ‘traditional’ pc’s, macs, and laptops. Internet radio is streamed live over the internet which is global. Is this technology not amazing? And for those of you who would like a peek into the future – streaming television is coming (actually it is here already). One really great aspect of internet radio is that it can and does combine the concept of ‘podcasting’ with live streaming which means the episodes or shows are recorded and archived (saved) and uploaded to itunes. Listeners are able to go to the archives of the show anytime and listen to past shows over and over again as well as have the ability to download the show to a phone, pc, or mp3 player and play the show whenever you choose (like jogging or in the car).
For advertisers this is an amazing boon. Revenues spent on sponsorship of an internet radio show are played to the consumer every time the show is heard from the first live stream and also on every subsequent playback unlike terrestrial radio where the advertisement is heard on the show and then gone forever.
My personal favorite of internet radio is the global reach. Currently Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s creator, is vacationing in communist Vietnam to soften the ground for Facebook being allowed there. Unlike broadcasting in a local area in a particular geographical zone, internet radio is available wherever there is an internet connection or cell tower with bandwith to access the internet on your smart phone. Information is disseminated freely and without censorship, interpretation or dilution which is truly empowering. This gives people everywhere the ability to listen and weigh up information for themselves and to learn, grow and expand unlike traditional media. We are truly becoming a global community.
VoiceAmerica has nearly 3 million unique listeners every month and is growing by leaps and bounds. They have been the pioneers in this new field for 10 years holding a vision for the rest of us of information rich programming across all disciplines and fields of interest available to everyone who can access the internet. See why I love the local library and the public pc’s?
Freedom of information is the most powerful gift of all the current technology. Wise people will take advantage of it, appreciate it and promote it for the Good of All of Us. It’s the best thing that’s happened since fire, the wheel and blogging.

spirituality and business: no oxymoron
Posted by: | CommentsGood Day Everyone!
Recently someone asked me to put together a talk for a corporation without using the word spirituality. I was told that was the last word they wanted to hear. Yikes! Just goes to show you how people fear what they don’t know or understand. So I decided to address this in my blog.
Fact: There’s no such thing as a non-spiritual business or organization. Period.
We are all Spiritual beings; humans and every physical form (manifestation) have their roots in nonphysical energy (thought) first. Nothing gets to the planet without being a thought form, first. So, banking or widgets, government or religious group, they are all Spiritual organizations…Yes, even hospitals and the military. Everything. Everyone.
To not recognize that or understand that completely is missing the boat. Every group is a spiritual group. We can create anything we want on earth: absolutely anything. I think some of the misperceptions come into play when you think that a spiritual group is going to look like something other than what you expect. They’re going to be off meditating before the board meeting or kneeling in prayer before battle. Not.
The big misconception is that spirituality=good. Earth is a free will zone. Everything gets to be here. That’s pretty obvious, don’t you agree? So this begs the question, what’s the point? Or what’s the different? Or what exactly are we looking to experience?
MORE Quality. Good. Joy. Humor. Fun. Collaboration. Willingness. Expansion. Exuberance. Innovation. Inspiration. Fullness. Satisfaction. Solutions. Exhilaration…LIFE!
Source Energy, which we all already ARE at our core, is the highest, purest, fastest frequencies. We feel this Quality in every moment: either a lot of it or none of it or every shade (emotion) in between. Just because you’re at work doesn’t mean you’ve left your Internal Guidance System at home. Just because you’re singing in the choir at church doesn’t mean you’re allowing Source Energy to flow through you and you’re feelin’ the Love.
Spirituality Defined:
Spirituality is the measure of someone’s personal, most intimate relationship with Self. It has nothing to do with church or religion nor is it left behind because you don a three piece suit or a military uniform. Your Self is always with you. The question is are you aligned with Self (Source) or not, how much Light are you allowing to flow through your unit right NOW? That is spirituality. How connected are you in any given moment to Source, which is YOU.
The spiritual business already is. The question now is: How much Source Energy is allowed in? The degree to which each individual within the business/organization brings Self to the table, is the degree that prosperity, abundance, creativity, joy, humor, innovation, inspiration, genius is created and experienced in the entity’s services, products, communications, etc. The greater the flow of Source Energy into anything, the more Good is manifested in the final product. Above all, it is the experience of feeling It as Good and Enlivening.
At the core of every successful business if Love. Listen to an excerpt from the online self study course to the book, Well Done – A Story of Applied Spirituality™.

examine the premise: whose truth is it
Posted by: | CommentsGood Day Everyone!
Every day in the world we are bombarded with some one’s version of the truth. This one says this, that one says that. People go to war over the human mind version of the truth. There’s not enough; you’re doomed to this illness; my way is right and yours in wrong. This is the content of human mind…the sense of separation. This is the great illusion under which we all labor – that I am separate from you, alone on the planet and that whatever happens to me is personal. The great lie that began with the first telling of the story of Adam and Eve and their adventure in the Garden of Eden. Suddenly they were aware of “something other than paradise – oneness”.
In order to reclaim Paradise, our realization of Oneness, the human mind which is infinitely clever with its smoke and mirrors, has to be stilled. Or we must focus our attention on what IS PRESENT. Do you really notice a you that is feeling angry? Or are you the Awareness that notices anger come and go? We keep looking at the waves, when we are the ocean.
One way to disconnect from group human think is to examine the premise. Whose premise is it? What is it? How far back in human history does it go? Does it even feel correct? Thinking for yourself is a worthy endeavor which gives rise to inspired thought and ah-ha’s. The human mind is a tool that is meant for us to use in navigating this physical world. The human mind is to execute the desires of the heart, not the other way round which is what the human mind does. We force our heart to be still and execute the false premises of human mind.

looking for the Good: oil spill remedies american ingenuity style
Posted by: | CommentsGood day everyone!
According to the Law of Attraction, we are creating every bit of our experience here on Earth – including the Gulf oil spill. How or why would we do this? How is because we expect disaster; and we have cultivated a negative attitude about petroleum products and oil companies. They are our new “evil” to hate. Why would we create such an event? So that it gets our attention and we can clean up our thinking. We need to be looking in the direction of what is wanted, not what is. We have some work to do, folks. However, there are some wonderful forward thinkers out there. People of the “can do” attitude, focused on solutions. Have a look… Read More→
non marketing: the essence of caring about you
Posted by: | CommentsHello Everyone,
One of the things I have resisted most in owning all my businesses has been the marketing. Marketing in the strictest sense of the word has come to mean the manipulation of your psyche. They do focus groups; test ’til the cows come home, all in the effort to understand how to manipulate someone into buying a product or service. This springs forth from a sense of lack and scarcity. A Marketer is the new salesman. Nothing is more distasteful to me, because I know that people can determine for themselves if something is right for them or not; and I know my Well Being is not vested in you, but that I am my Supply.
Once during my advancement through the Toastmasters program to my ATM Silver, I had to give a speech on Persuasion. I didn’t know what to do about this speech. I was supposed to persuade the audience into something. After much angst, I hit on the idea of writing my speech on the art of allowing people the benefit of their own wisdom and their own Internal Guidance.
Today I was listening to a short video posted by Aweber, my beloved autoresponder server. Aweber is one of those companies that just provides good service, because they care about me, their customer. They are a small outfit in Pennsylvania that actually has real, knowledgeable and caring people at the other end of the customer service line. I recommend them heartily. Anyway, Justin Premrick was interviewing Chris Guillebeau, a very successful online marketer and Guillebeau struck my heartstrings. Here’s a guy who is living Who He Really Is in his life and in his e-mail marketing. He sincerely builds relationships. His “list” are not “customers”; they are his friends.
This is how I view the lovely people who sign up for my list. I constructed my site with content. My thoughts, my views, my encouragements to people. I try to post things that will give people an idea of Applied Spirituality in action – the natural, authentic life. Those who are inclined to live a more True Life for themselves will, hopefully, read this content and want to be supported more in their journey to actualizing that life for themselves. I don’t try to “sell” you my books and online courses or the teleclasses. I believe that if you find support, comfort, upliftment, a laugh or two here at this site, that you will want to be in the slipstream of Applied Spirituality so you become the Master of your Self.
So, this blog is about finding kindred souls in non marketing, Justin Premrick and Chris Guillebeau and wishing for each of you that you find the slip stream that supports your journey into the realization of Who You Really Are – Source Energy having a rollicking Good adventure on earth in the time/space reality known as your Life.

hemp & marijuana: isn’t it time, yet?
Posted by: | CommentsHello Everyone!
The subject of today’s blog was inspired by a clip that I noticed on the Auto Insight Online Community today.
Did I know that in 1941 the Ford motor company produced an experimental automobile with a plastic body composed of 70% cellulose fibers from hemp. No, I did not know that; so I set about doing a little Google research. Watch this:
How much different would the world look today if we had followed the vision that Henry Ford set forth rather than changing course in fear. What fear you ask? The hysterical and irrational fear of cannabis.
It has always been a wonderment to me that alcohol is legal and cannabis is not. Just in observation in the course of my own life, I’ve never seen a group of people high on cannabis starting a war or getting into a fight. Yet, the effects alcohol has on the human body and psyche are well documented, and most of them not pretty. As to the argument that marijuana is the “gateway” drug. Posh. Everything is a choice. If that’s the argument, then root beer is the gateway to beer which is the gateway to the “hard stuff”. Every body gets to choose how far they go with anything in life. These decisions are personal; not the domain of government or others.
Prohibitions on cannabis began as early as 1906 but found substantive traction in the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 which required growers to register so as to pay the tax. Oddly, during WWII, the US Government encouraged farmers to grow hemp for the war effort.
In 2005 Ron Paul introduced the Industrial Hemp Farming Act which was referred to committee, where it still languishes. Hemp, marijuana, cannabis – by whatever name – is one of Nature’s gifts to man. Such a useful and amazing crop would mean so much in the area of sustainability. Where so much by-product of a toxic nature is attributed to steel and plastics, what would using hemp mean if engineers and scientists found ways to utilize this crop to produce automobile bodies and homes? What would this mean to the farmer in North Dakota?
What would legalization of marijuana mean in terms of revitalizing the fabric and garment industry here in America? What would it look like if you could go to an herb shop and buy a few ounces of legal marijuana to bake into some cookies for a party or smoke if you so chose to do? Would the world come to an end? Probably not. Would fewer people drink alcohol? Who knows. Are people going to go hog wild and be doped out at work? No more so than those who go to work drunk or have a beer at lunch. These are personal issues of self and spiritual development.
An initiative to legalize marijuana will most likely be on the ballot in California’s November election. As with most things, this is finally being made possible because of the economics of the times. The cost to prosecute offenders outweighs the benefits; and California is strapped financially, looking for new sources of growth for the economy, just like North Dakota.
Fears are always irrational; but it is always fear that keeps us from the realization of our Good. We are being asked to grow in our spiritual development from children to adults. We are being asked to release our fears and move into Oneness with Source. Here is where we can release one more fear and find many blessings, not the least of which is communion with God enjoying with gratitude the bounty of this precious and amazing herb. This is only Common Sense.

All arguments aside, the bottom line through the lens of Applied Spirituality is that this is a natural substance like any other herb that is part and parcel of our Natural world. It is up to the individual to choose what things they will participate in, pay attention to, use, or reject as a matter of personal choice like hot dogs over hamburgers. No more; no less. What is available now is the opportunity to drop the fear over something and move on to enjoy the many benefits and blessings that this blessed seed will impart to all of us looking for new and better ways to honor the planet. We can start by giving thanks for hemp.

The Economics of Self Esteem
Posted by: | CommentsHello Everyone,
I spend a lot of time noticing people, behavior, money and time. In ‘this economy’ It’s the catch phrase these days, so I have to use it for Googling purposes. But people seem to be working harder and faster, taking on more and more with a sense of desperation.
Perhaps they’re fueled by the idea that the unemployment benefits are going to run out; or they have to find that job, right now; or I’ve only got a certain amount of severance, so I’ve got to launch this business pronto. Always we are thinking there’s not enough – for me.
It’s precisely thinking like this that got us into this recession in the first place. No where else on Earth, save the UK, maybe, do people work so hard and so long for so little. It defies logic and common sense. I wonder how much we make per hour as a nation. Now there’s a question. If we added up the earnings of everyone in the US, then added up the hours worked and divided that into the earnings, what would we be making per hour? I can assure you it would be a pittance compared to our True Value.
This of course doesn’t even take into account the “j” factor – you know, J.O.Y. Now, let’s ask that question: how many of us really LOVE what we’re doing? Preposterous!
We’ve got it all backwards, because we think the harder we work the more money we will make.
Forget the penalty in stress paid by the body. We work for those benefits, after all. We stick at jobs we hate, damaging our physicality so we can cash in on those benefits when we have that stroke, the heart attack or get the big “C” – which by the way we wouldn’t have if we’d spent our days in joy.
How the heck did we get here?
I’d like to say it was a big conspiracy, but we all went along willingly like lambs to slaughter buying into the “American Dream” that the marketers were selling on behalf of the Banks, the HMO’s, the insurance companies, and the pharmaceuticals.
They package it up real pretty and sell it; we buy it lock, stock and barrel. We should have that McMansion, those cars, these clothes, this gadget and that particular widget. Then we’ll feel like we’ve made it; we’ve arrived – then there will be material proof that we’re good enough – at last.
Hamsters on the wheel, we are. Hamsters on the wheel.
What fuels this? Why could they sell us this crock?
We have a national deficit, but it’s not cash. It is a national deficit of personal and individual self-esteem.
We are poor in Spirit. We are poor in Who We Really Are. We don’t know our own value, our own worth, and we do not trust our own internal thought processes as valid. We don’t think for ourselves, we don’t question the premise, and we think they know more than we do.
In the old days, I think they called it Common Sense. Today, we’ve all but abdicated our personal sense of what’s a right and appropriate response to life. We trust ‘them’ to tell us what to watch on TV, what to wear, what to eat, what drugs to ask for at the doctor’s, what symptoms to have, what beauty is, what to think about the ‘news’, and we do it it all. We follow so well.
Nothing will change until we remember and value above all else, Who We Really Are – individually – you and me.
When we truly trust our responses to life as right and appropriate; when we value ourselves, our opinions, our time, our talents, our very being as the precious and beautifully unique thing that it is – then, folks, the economy of our nation will thrive, because we individually are thriving.
Only we can do this. Only you and I can begin the transformation of poor self esteem into one of personal high regard and respect. This is our job.
Then, one day, in the midst of our work day, we will stop at least once and say, “I cannot believe they pay me to do this! I love my work.”
Imagine this.
Thanks for reading!
Kath
