leadership hallmark: thinking for yourself

Good Day Everyone!

I ran across an item on the internet this morning that tells of a website that proposes the existence of a tree octopus.

Dr. Donald J Leu of the New Literacies Research Lab at the University of Connecticut has pointed to this site as evidence that our children are not being taught the critical thinking they need to discern fact from fiction in this world. Truth be told, our children are not being taught to be leaders, but to be one of the pack receiving praise for following the rules, standing in line quietly, and regurgitating facts. In short they are taught that being a follower wins praise and that standing out from the herd merits censure.

Leadership, however, is the ability to think for yourself and follow your own Internal Guidance on any subject in any circumstance. People encouraged at a young age to follow their individualistic thinking and weigh how it feels to them are the ones who develop new companies, find solutions to the gordian knot, and develop innovative ideas that propel society forward. Thinking for oneself is the hallmark of leadership.

When individuals are allowed and encouraged to express a new and original thought and then meet up with praise for having the courage to do so, they don’t end up acting out in negative ways later on. All those little bright and shining faces in our schools are future leaders if seen through new eyes. They are not our clay to mold; they are unique individual light beings ready willing and able to bring Light into the world. Sometimes it’s exuberant and noisy, but always exciting.

the nature of spirit/life: freedom

Good Morning Everyone!

Liberation Square, Cairo February 1, 2011 photo courtesy AP

Suddenly the urge for freedom is erupting across the Arab world: Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and now Jordan. Like a daisy sprouting up from the cracks in the asphalt, Life insists on Life. The urge to be free cannot be denied within the human despite race, religion, or location. Everyone has the same Godchip hard-wired within whose nature is freedom, growth and joy. We are seeing the expression of Self across the globe – the huddled masses yearning to be free – no longer huddling but standing up, stretching and reaching for their inherent freedom on earth.

Just as America reached for her freedom from England back in 1776, these scenes reflect the very same urge within every human to throw off oppression and freely pursue life, liberty and happiness.

All the religious strictures, governmental restraints or human laws of any type cannot keep this phenomenon of Life from happening. We all come in with this knowing: we are free; and we seek to bring into alignment that which we are by Nature into manifestation in our physical lives. We witness people from all walks of life reaching for Quality – the realization of Source in our everyday experience. This is Applied Spirituality in action. It’s Natural.

essential Self: Conscious Awareness

Hello Everyone!

At the root of every personal dilemma is the belief that we are isolated, alone, ineffectual and small. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are, each of us, Well Being, Perfection, Conscious Awareness. The Life that breathes us, enlivens us and every living thing. We are immense, but have suffered from the false belief in our separation from Source.

Jesus said, “I and my Father are One.” This was his statement of his realization of Oneness. We are each the same; one with the I AM.

“I AM is the Way, the Truth and the Life.”

The I AM is the Sea of Conscious Awareness in which we live, breathe and ARE. Notice. Who breathes you? What knows how to turn your food into new cells? What keeps the planets in their orbits? What? The same Conscious Awareness that is us; that is Who We Really Are.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said it this way: Trust Thyself; It is the I AM.

examine the premise: whose truth is it

Good Day Everyone!

Whose Truth? Ego Mind or Divine Mind

Every day in the world we are bombarded with some one’s version of the truth. This one says this, that one says that. People go to war over the human mind version of the truth. There’s not enough; you’re doomed to this illness; my way is right and yours in wrong. This is the content of human mind…the sense of separation. This is the great illusion under which we all labor – that I am separate from you, alone on the planet and that whatever happens to me is personal. The great lie that began with the first telling of the story of Adam and Eve and their adventure in the Garden of Eden. Suddenly they were aware of “something other than paradise – oneness”.

In order to reclaim Paradise, our realization of Oneness, the human mind which is infinitely clever with its smoke and mirrors, has to be stilled. Or we must focus our attention on what IS PRESENT. Do you really notice a you that is feeling angry? Or are you the Awareness that notices anger come and go? We keep looking at the waves, when we are the ocean.

One way to disconnect from group human think is to examine the premise. Whose premise is it? What is it? How far back in human history does it go? Does it even feel correct? Thinking for yourself is a worthy endeavor which gives rise to inspired thought and ah-ha’s. The human mind is a tool that is meant for us to use in navigating this physical world. The human mind is to execute the desires of the heart, not the other way round which is what the human mind does. We force our heart to be still and execute the false premises of human mind.

Here’s an excerpt from the Earthling’s Quick Start Guide: Master Operating Your Unit on Earth (A Short Refresher Course in Applied Spirituality). Think about it.

designing a mind, creating a new reality

Good Day Everyone!

The deep freeze continues here in Ohio. I do love winter; the time when we go into our caves and dream of what we want next. This morning I came across a wonderful blog post by Don Tapscott in the Huffington Post. He writes about training our minds to expand so that we are more agile in the handling of multi tasks, mega data and technology. He suggests that children are already able to do these things, because they are using their minds in ways that we have not. Proof positive that the adaptation of the human body is a natural function resulting from our focus, our request to change.

Recently I spent time substitute teaching in the public schools and came away with a clear idea as to why our students aren’t doing so well when they are measured against other societies around the globe. They are not being encouraged to be who they are; they are asked to leave the best part of themselves at home; the atmosphere is one of fear and pressure; and they are not encouraged to have an original idea or thought. We do not encourage them to use their creativity, intuition, broader perspective, innate knowing and guidance. They are herded and made to memorize facts and data not encouraged to think for themselves or have an original thought; thus they do not become independent thinkers which is the prerequisite to innovation.

Within each of us is the potential to create anything we want. Don Tapscott speaks of the brains amazing plasticity and our ability to expand beyond what we are now. Well, of course! Another great source to read is David Shenk’s book, The Genius in All of Us. We need to set our children free in schools to be who they really are, the wondrous Creators they are. In order to do that we have to become unafraid and let go of our need to control them. They are not our clay to mold; they infinitely intelligent, wise and creative beings who belong to themselves, not us.

Good Morning World!

Make no mistake; you matter to us all a great deal!!! Yes, you. It is right and appropriate that your life matters to you; because no one else has your unique view or gifts to bring to the world. That we are all selfishly oriented is a Good thing. When you finally reach a place in your adventure where you want to be happy and fulfilled personally, at that point the Whole benefits, because your joy is our blessing. Please enjoy an excerpt from Well Done – A Story of Applied Spirituality. You deserve to be fulfilled; but only you can make that happen. Go for it! This life, your life, is not a dress rehearsal.

what you can do for your country

Hello Everyone,

It’s 50 years since JFK delivered his first inaugural address on a cold, bright winter’s day in Washington, DC. Some of us may remember it; some of you may not. Perhaps you were not even born yet. It’s a speech worth hearing, because unlike some who would say that JFK’s was a presidency interrupted and therefore, lost; he laid the ground work for what we are endeavoring to carry forward today. On that winter’s day he planted the seeds in not just our American consciousness, but all of mankind’s consciousness for a world where we would realize – make REAL – certain ideals. He illuminated the idea the God’s work was actually our work. That we are the creators of our Reality. ..all of it.

He told us we would go to the moon in 10 years when we did not have the technology to do so; and we did it in 9. He laid the ground work along with Bobby and Martin for human rights. Today we are seeing the last remaining vestiges of bias falling by the wayside one by one. He knew we were Source Energy having this physical life. He kept us focused on the infinite possibilities. He said the work may not be done in our life times, but we must start – and we did. Now we must carry on the Good work.

What you can do is expand your own consciousness. Focus yourself on the infinite possibilities, removing your eyes from the distasteful, the degenerate, the quarrelsome, the bad and instead, insist your eyes stay fixed on where we desire to go, not where we have been.

We can build on the Light; or we can build on the darkness. The free will choice is in each of our minds. Take control of your own internal focus, choose the Light and don’t look back. That’s what you can  do for your country. Here’s JFK’s speech. Let it inspire you to your best Self, which of course, is God.

Hello Everyone,

Today we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King - his life, his success, his contribution to America because of his idealism. We are all better because he lived in pursuit of his dream: brotherly Love, Divine Love lived on Earth. If you’ve never heard his speech, I offer it to you here. Let it speak to your heart where Divine Love lives in each of us.

love and business: No oxymoron

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Hello Everyone,

There’s a great paradigm shift afoot here on Earth. It’s the movement from living from ego mind (human mind) into living out from the heart. There’s no arena on Earth that is not transformed by this act. This act, of course, happens one heart at a time.

People come to a “spiritual” journey because of something happening in their personal lives that has finally become big enough to get their full attention. Once they begin the transformation within necessary to “fix” their personal lives, they take the transformation into every aspect of their lives, including business.

Years ago I attended a Transformational Gate with a friend who was a law enforcement officer. We had no idea at the time what we had undertaken: a life transformation. But at the end of the two day intensive my friend asked, “How am I ever going to be a spiritual cop?”

Spiritual cop; loving businessman; heart centered corporation. These are not oxymorons. These are not only possible, but already afoot on planet Earth.

Living from ego mind (human mind) has gotten us just so far. And mostly we are looking at the devastating results: sickness, war, a polluted planet, disease, paranoia, fear, etc. We look about our world, feel our lives and wonder how we got here. But more, we wonder how to change this. Wherever do we start?

It’s not so hard nor so mystical. It is simply to begin listening to your Internal Guidance System, and following your heart in every instance of your life. Every  big or little “trauma” is a call to open your heart, which aligns you more and more with your Godself. Through the eyes of Godself, there is always a way, something miraculous, and more Love, Good and expansion/growth.

It is time to Love. In business, in the grocery, in your family, in school. The place to start? Loving yourSelf, first.

Come join us on Sunday evenings in Conversations with Kath to begin your journey to Self love so you, too, can be the change you want to see in the world.
