giving Thanks: every moment
Posted by: | CommentsHello Everyone,
It’s Thanksgiving week. It pleases me that here in America (and Canada) that we actually have a national holiday put aside to give thanks. Although for the life of me, I dearly wish they’d cooked something other than turkey. Personal preferences aside, we honor that the attitude or vibration of appreciation and gratitude is part and parcel of a happy life.
Haven’t you noticed that people who are not focused in appreciation for what they have are focused on what they do not have? This is the old “glass half full” or “glass half full” attitude, a choice of focus which is wholly within our individual domain.
When you consciously begin to shift your focus of awareness to the fullness of having, the Universe by Law of Attraction begins matching your “full” and “appreciative” vibration with more things to feel full and appreciate. Pretty cool how that works. Don’t you just wonder and appreciate who set this up with such elegance?
So how do you go from the “I don’t have” attitude to the “I have and appreciate” attitude? Practice. Purposeful, intentional practice to apply the focus of your mind to loving, appreciating, adoring, thanking for every teeny tiny little thing that pleases you. Every moment of every day.
Start small. Declare your intention to see and appreciate this day/this moment. For example, you might want to start general if you’re experiencing some difficulties in your life. [This practice, I might add, will change everything else in your life so long as you're giving more "air time" in your mind to appreciation than the negative stuff.]
So appreciate the fact that the sun came up this morning! How we take that one for granted, eh? This a big WoW that goes unnoticed and unappreciated. This single phenomenon points directly to the overwhelming Well Being in which we live. As winter approaches, instead of the ordinary and commonplace complaining about the weather, why not try thinking along these terms? If it weren’t for the cold, apples, grapes, pears and many other foods we love would not be possible. Therefore, I appreciate the winter.
Not well? Then try appreciating the parts of your body that ARE well. If your left hip hurts, appreciate the right one which is happy and well. How about appreciating that your body has recovered from myriad dis-eases over a lifetime; and appreciate that. Your body turns your food into new cells everyday without nary a thought from you. Another big Wow. With respect to the human body, there are about a zillion big Wow’s. Consider a few of them. The number of chemical reactions, tiny synapses, and split second timing to move something, digest food, make love.
Got your eyes fixated on the political or economic scene? Well how about appreciating the abundance and community that you do have and experience everyday? The abundance of air comes to mind. None of us have to gulp it in the morning for fear there won’t be enough by 4 PM. How about the abundance of life all around you and including you. The flora, fauna, creatures of the sea? They live in community and do it well. Think bees, dolphins, ants….
I am reminded of a Bible quote, “I will keep thee in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Me.” Me is Well Being. All That Is. Source Energy and yourSelf.
Not just on Thanksgiving, but today starting right now, begin to shift your focus of attention to seeing and appreciating how Full you already are. Make lists when you can. At stop lights look around for things to appreciate. In business meetings look for things you love and appreciate. And do this as a waking meditation all day long. I am charmed by that one’s smile. I appreciate this one’s wit. I love the color blue.
Thanks for the green light.
Thanks for the red light.
Thanks for this car, the highways, the people who made all this happen.
Thanks for the flat tire.
Thanks for the sun, egg, breakfast burrito and everyone who had anything to do with making it.
Thanks for what is becoming our new reality.
Thanks for my connection with Source.
Thanks for Universal Laws.
Thanks for my being a part of all this Creation and my contributions to it.
Thanks for ever little thing, both positive and negative, for without the contrast I could not wish for more and expand God Itself.
I’ll leave you with this. I often think about the moment when we’re passing from this physical reality back into Well Being. A ReEntry Angel escorts you Home. In your debriefing they ask you, “What were your favorite parts? What did you love most?” I started doing this one day and literally couldn’t stop. Here were a few of mine: I love flannel sheets. I loved skipping. I loved whipped cream…. now you go and make your list.
I appreciate each of you who are a part of the Applied Spirituality Community. You have no idea how much I celebrate you! But I hope you can know even a little how I adore you and appreciate your participation in expanding yourSelf in Life and allowing me to be a part of your becoming.
It’s truly my honor and pleasure.
I truly Love You; and I do mean You

lesson from Steve Jobs
Posted by: | CommentsHello Everyone,
As you know Steve Jobs transitioned last week returning to Well Being. What a Light unto all of us and what a legacy he left to everyone willing to see. He was given up at birth. He never finished college. He became “successful” in the world by doing it his way, following his heart, loving what he did and never listening to others’ opinions that what he was up to might be impossible.
It really doesn’t matter what you’re up to creating in this world…a business, a family, a new idea….a gorgeous life…whatever it is, take Jobs’ words of wisdom and apply them into your life right now. Don’t give a rip what others have to say about your passion. Follow your heart where the Love is.
He “died” at age 56. A life truly Well Lived. Quality is what we’re all after; and Love brings the Quality to your endeavor. You feel that in your heart.

the thought gardener: plant good ones; weed out wrong ones
Posted by: | CommentsGood Morning Everyone!
I love gardening. I wish everyone would garden; it’s so therapeutic, illuminating and rewarding. I’m getting ready to plant seed trays in preparation for planting my garden outside around Memorial Day. All winter I’ve poured over seed catalogs drooling over the new varieties and wanting to experiment with new crops. Alas, I am a box gardener and have limited space. I have to choose the seeds I want for the space I have to grow. I’m an equal opportunity gardener; if a quality seed sprouts (and usually they do), I just can’t seem to toss it onto the compost heap; no, I have to give the little plant its chance. Not so, though, for thoughts. I have learned through gardening to pluck out the ones I don’t want to mature into manifestation.Thoughts are like seeds. Whatever you nurture grows. So becoming a deliberate creator of your life experiences starts with cultivating the Quality thought seeds. You can sort through the thought catalog and choose the ones you want to harvest come the fall; or you can, by default, grow whatever the winds and birds carry to your mind like dandelions or mustard.
I started weeding as a child. My Dad handed me a long tool with a forked end together with an empty coffee can. My instructions were to pull the weed out by it’s roots. We didn’t use chemicals. Since then weeding has become a favorite meditation; every thought I identify as a weed that I’m not willing to cultivate in my garden (mind), I pull it out (let it go), and then, of course, turn my focus to the ones I want to get bigger and thrive. To those I give my full attention.
As you choose your quality seeds, carefully consider what “crop” you are planting and nurturing. Even if you’re a container gardener like I am, gardening is a lovely reminder to weed out those erroneous thoughts and feed the good ones for a delicious harvest of lovely life adventures. This is Applied Spirituality.
Want to start your seeds? This will help you get started.

looking for love in all the wrong places?
Posted by: | CommentsGood Morning Everyone!
What’s love got to do with…money, relationships, health, your experience of life? Everything. Anything or anyone who feels unloved isn’t presenting in the world in a nice way. In fact, evil is simply the absence of love. Illness is the absence of Love. Poverty is the absence of love. Why? Because Love is Source Energy, the Fullness of all that is Good, which is the True Self of all of us.
We all have “stories” about our lives. My folks didn’t love me; my spouse abused me; my family didn’t do this or that…and we carry these stories around like badges, recreating them over and over again…living the same experiences over and over again with different faces; but it’s the same old story. I didn’t get enough Love. In every act of everyday we are trying to “get” more Love. What’s weird about that is that we ARE Love and the place where we aren’t getting enough love is from our Self. We are Love; yet, we don’t know it; we don’t realize it, therefore we don’t have the EXPERIENCE OF IT, because we keep playing the same old tunes repeatedly searching for Love in all the wrong places: out there when it’s in here.
There is nothing you cannot let go of if you know how to “drop it”. You want a better relationship here and now, stop telling the story of how “unloved” you were as a kid. You want more Quality Life experiences right here and now; then stop telling the stories of your miserable low quality experiences back when. It’s history. It’s long gone. It was never Real; merely real.
Most of all, start loving yourself. Gather together all those unloved parts of you and bring them into your fold. They are like long lost children waiting to be heard, loved and honored in your inner world. When your mind is racing negative thoughts of doom and gloom, it’s those unloved, unrecognized and abandoned parts of you that are clamoring to be LOVED. And here’s the really Good News: once you love them, their stories dissolve. There is nothing on Earth that more Love won’t fix or cure. Nothing. For Love is the stuff, the glue, the common denominator of us all.
Love yourself first; then watch everything in your personal experience change.
Applied Spirituality offers a self-study audio course that will guide you back home to yourSelf where Love is right here, right now; it’s called You Are Enough...and you already Are.
Enjoy the song, Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places and imagine that the song is about you finding You.

conscious parenting
Posted by: | CommentsHello Everyone!
There are as many ideas of good parenting out there as there are individuals. Just ask anyone and a rousing if not noisy discussion will ensue with everyone defending their view point from the human mind. Recently quite a polarizing discussion ensued with Amy Chua’s book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother. The book is not a user’s manual, but rather a personal reflection of her journey on her parenting style from which she learns and grows in Love. This is conscious parenting which results in the evolution and expansion of you, the parent. What this means is that as things come up you, the parent, have to grow yourself through the course of parenting. Children, because we love them so much, cause us to self reflect, reconsider, change and grow. Nothing else in the world can make us do this quite like our children can and do.
We want so much to be good parents; however, there’s no manual and it seems almost anyyone can do it. There’s very little barrier to entry! This is the field of Love. It gets muddy, however, when we bring to bear our human mind stuff onto the field. Our parents did it this way; or I hated that my parents did it that way; or I’m not enough, deserving or up to the job. These are the stories of human mind (ego) that will come up for OUR clearing throughout the course of parenting our children.
Bottomline: these children are NOT our property, nor are they made in our image. They are individual, unique chips off the old Block, Source Energy. They come complete with their own Internal Guidance System. Their agenda is not our agenda. Our job, if we are consciously parenting, is to keep reconnecting them with their own Internal Guidance so that they feel safe and good in their own hands. During childhood we can offer them a wide berth to practice listening within and then feeling the outcome of their individual choices. Then, once they’re “out in the world”, it will be their natural habit to “check within” first to see how anything feels to them before they act. This builds not only self esteem but self reliance, independent thinkers and adults who are Connected with Self.
I thought you might enjoy listening to Amy Chou being interviewed. It doesn’t matter that she’s Chinese; substitute any other descriptor you like here. Everyone is called to grow and expand in Love: and nothing does it better than our children.

spirituality and business: no oxymoron
Posted by: | CommentsGood Day Everyone!
Recently someone asked me to put together a talk for a corporation without using the word spirituality. I was told that was the last word they wanted to hear. Yikes! Just goes to show you how people fear what they don’t know or understand. So I decided to address this in my blog.
Fact: There’s no such thing as a non-spiritual business or organization. Period.
We are all Spiritual beings; humans and every physical form (manifestation) have their roots in nonphysical energy (thought) first. Nothing gets to the planet without being a thought form, first. So, banking or widgets, government or religious group, they are all Spiritual organizations…Yes, even hospitals and the military. Everything. Everyone.
To not recognize that or understand that completely is missing the boat. Every group is a spiritual group. We can create anything we want on earth: absolutely anything. I think some of the misperceptions come into play when you think that a spiritual group is going to look like something other than what you expect. They’re going to be off meditating before the board meeting or kneeling in prayer before battle. Not.
The big misconception is that spirituality=good. Earth is a free will zone. Everything gets to be here. That’s pretty obvious, don’t you agree? So this begs the question, what’s the point? Or what’s the different? Or what exactly are we looking to experience?
MORE Quality. Good. Joy. Humor. Fun. Collaboration. Willingness. Expansion. Exuberance. Innovation. Inspiration. Fullness. Satisfaction. Solutions. Exhilaration…LIFE!
Source Energy, which we all already ARE at our core, is the highest, purest, fastest frequencies. We feel this Quality in every moment: either a lot of it or none of it or every shade (emotion) in between. Just because you’re at work doesn’t mean you’ve left your Internal Guidance System at home. Just because you’re singing in the choir at church doesn’t mean you’re allowing Source Energy to flow through you and you’re feelin’ the Love.
Spirituality Defined:
Spirituality is the measure of someone’s personal, most intimate relationship with Self. It has nothing to do with church or religion nor is it left behind because you don a three piece suit or a military uniform. Your Self is always with you. The question is are you aligned with Self (Source) or not, how much Light are you allowing to flow through your unit right NOW? That is spirituality. How connected are you in any given moment to Source, which is YOU.
The spiritual business already is. The question now is: How much Source Energy is allowed in? The degree to which each individual within the business/organization brings Self to the table, is the degree that prosperity, abundance, creativity, joy, humor, innovation, inspiration, genius is created and experienced in the entity’s services, products, communications, etc. The greater the flow of Source Energy into anything, the more Good is manifested in the final product. Above all, it is the experience of feeling It as Good and Enlivening.
At the core of every successful business if Love. Listen to an excerpt from the online self study course to the book, Well Done – A Story of Applied Spirituality™.

being who you really are: first, to thine own self be true
Posted by: | CommentsGood Day Everyone,
President Obama was interviewed by Bill O’Reilly during Super Bowl XLV. About 9 minutes into the interview, the President confides that the worst part about his job is being “in the bubble”. He feels he cannot have spontaneous conversations with others and he has become much more guarded. O’Reilly says his close friends report he is much more guarded.
What would it look like if the President just continued to be Who He Really Is..funny, smart, spontaneous and more free in his job? In so doing he would bring his best of Self to the world. Everything goes better with humor, even the Presidency. What would it look like if we were each less concerned with what others thought about us, and more concerned with how we feel within our selves? What would it look like if each of our primary concern was how Good we felt? Feeling Good, of course, is the measure of how aligned one is with Self…Source – Well Being. That is what Shakespeare was referring to when he wrote,
"This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man." Polonius to his son, Laertes in Hamlet This is applied spirituality. When we are true to Self, we feel Good. Our human mind is in alignment with Source (Well Being); then and only then are we a gift to the world. Try it for a day. Feel Good within, first; then go out into the world and offer yourself. Waters will part; tides will shift and influence will be felt...easily. Here's the video of the interview. Thanks for reading! the appearance of extreme weather: the opportunity to renew Life
Posted by: | Commentsthe nature of spirit/life: freedom
Posted by: | CommentsGood Morning Everyone!
Suddenly the urge for freedom is erupting across the Arab world: Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and now Jordan. Like a daisy sprouting up from the cracks in the asphalt, Life insists on Life. The urge to be free cannot be denied within the human despite race, religion, or location. Everyone has the same Godchip hard-wired within whose nature is freedom, growth and joy. We are seeing the expression of Self across the globe – the huddled masses yearning to be free – no longer huddling but standing up, stretching and reaching for their inherent freedom on earth.
Just as America reached for her freedom from England back in 1776, these scenes reflect the very same urge within every human to throw off oppression and freely pursue life, liberty and happiness.
All the religious strictures, governmental restraints or human laws of any type cannot keep this phenomenon of Life from happening. We all come in with this knowing: we are free; and we seek to bring into alignment that which we are by Nature into manifestation in our physical lives. We witness people from all walks of life reaching for Quality – the realization of Source in our everyday experience. This is Applied Spirituality in action. It’s Natural.
