in honor of Earth Day 2010: progess and wishlist
By KathGreetings Everyone!
Earth Day is 40 years old today which means the consciousness shift that we are experiencing more forcefully now began all those many years ago with the Hippies and Baby Boomers. Seems we’ve been at this awhile, holding the space of Oneness and Love. Never say die!
In so many ways consciousness has expanded and things are so very much better and improved! Civil rights, animal rights, the new “green” movement (again), the internet, and most importantly the blending of previously polar ideas such as spirituality and business. I continue to be encouraged and excited to see the shifts in the evolution of man in my lifetime. We are starting to understand how Connected we are in Oneness. I imagine that was my intention to be here for this event at this time in history. How cool is that?
On the still to do list:
Common ordinary litter….I thought that was included in Environment 101. So shall we resurrect the “Don’t Be A Litterbug” campaign from the 1960′s?
Clean water. Clean water means we have to let go of this obsession of having a putting green for a lawn! It’s spring here in Ohio and every weed killer and fertilizer made is being rigorously applied. They even sell these products at the gas station!
It’s not rocket science folks: chemicals applied to the lawn and garden go into the soil. When it rains, these chemicals wash into the ground water from which we drink. Here in Ohio the water tables are pretty close to the surface. So that drinking water is laced with those chemicals you just put on the lawn. One might as well mix the chemicals into a glass and just down it. So, get out an old screwdriver and dig those dandelions out one by one. If you don’t spray them, you could put them right into your evening salad.
Organic Food Supply
Same arguments mentioned above in water applies to our food, only more. When foods are industrially grown using artificial pesticides and fertilizers, they don’t have to “struggle” to grow. It is this very act of struggling that imparts to the food its nutrition for us in the way of antioxidants, vitamins, etc. Organic foods have up to 60% more nutrition than industrially grown foods. Vote with your dollars, folks. The organic industry has grown from $1 billion in 1990 to nearly $25 billion in 2009 by people making that choice at the grocery store. Pay now or pay later, but the point is you are a Live, Organic Being and organic foods have more Life in them for your beautiful bod.
Hydrogen Fuel: I suppose I’ll keep harping on hydrogen engines until they actually give us what we want. Zero emissions. But hey, if we can travel via sound as an energy source, I’m open to that, too!
It’s Spring. Go out there today and just take it in. Everything that can be in bloom is. Life renews itself no matter what we do. Life Is! As you let your eyes feast on the abundance that is just there for us without our having to “do” anything to make it happen, consider that the same Life that enlivens nature is the same Life that enlivens You. We are truly One. Appreciate. Appreciate. Appreciate.
